Modern Style is often mistaken with the Contemporary Style, mostly due to the name, however, both these styles couldn’t be more different from each other. Modern Style first came to be from a design movement which started around the turn of the 20th century. It has its roots in the German and Scandinavian design, being connected to the age of machination of the 1920s all the way to the 1950s.
Modern Style leaves the structural elements of the house exposed, there is an emphasis on horizontal and vertical lines, a celebration of natural light with unadorned windows, natural materials such as unpainted wood, metals, leather and natural fibres with a neutral, natural colour palette. Natural Woods and wood veneers and reflective surfaces such as steel, chrome or glass are also present in this style.
Modern Style furnishings and decor celebrate natural materials, neutral or earthy colours, and the elimination of unnecessary detailing. This style has a philosophy which makes it the perfect decorating style for people who prefer simple, uncluttered space with clean lines and lack of adornments. We’re about to show you a couple of examples in that regard.
