Glass Fireplaces are yet another example of the way this product has been evolving throughout the years in both practical and design terms. Wanna see how the use of glass in fireplaces can lead to some marvellous results in many products? Then keep on reading!
An element that defines glass fireplaces is the use of enclosures made from the very same material. The use of this containment technique allows for the use of fire to heat up the household in a totally stylish, contemporary and family-friendly way. We have a couple of examples of Glass Fireplaces by Bloch-Design that aside from providing all of the traits mentioned, they also customize these styles of fireplaces with pyramid or rectangular shape, with clear or tinted glass.
Glass fireplaces can also be the perfect chance to create a four-sided fireplace, safely containing the fire within the mantel, like we can see from this example by Acucraft in a California Residence. The whole family can watch the flames from any angle in safety and quality.

With the trend of portable fireplaces becoming more and more popular, it’s no wonder that some of those portable fireplaces end up being glass fireplaces. Take the example above from Antonio Lupi. This ethanol fireplace is suitable for both outdoor and indoor use being quite easily able to look good at either the side of a sofa in the living room or be used as a “totem” for people to sit around it outside.

We’ll now be going to a whole new topic aside from the use of glass in the design work of a fireplace. There’s also a whole new trick that can be applied to fireplaces using glass that not that many people might be aware of: the use of glass rocks in the mantle of a fireplace. Often known as Fire glass this material is perfectly able to be used in both fire pits and fireplaces, regardless of the interior or type of fireplace used. There’s also the fact that this particular material does not emit fumes, smoke nor does it explode.
The use of this material, in particular, can lead to some wonderful visual results in the basis of a fireplace, aside from the safety features related to fire glass. Fire glass creates an almost crystal-like base that looks amazing with the flames emanating from it. If you ever thought that glass could never be a wonderful fuel for a fire, think again.
