Fox-Nahem Associates consists of an American design firm famous worldwide for several interior design projects. Today we’re taking a little look at some of the fireplaces of the projects by this renowned design firm.
The company Fox-Nahem Associates was created by both Joe Nahem and by his late partner Tom Fox. Today it’s Joe who runs the business, being an individual known for his ability to dig deep into the client’s minds, in order to figure out their ideas, needs, and individual tastes in order to provide the best quality for them. The firm’s main purpose is to reflect the tastes, needs and personality of the people who reside in the home Fox-Nahem Associates takes on.
Fox-Nahem Associates are known for overseeing every facet from architecture to bed linens, having even been mentioned in more than one publication regarding top design lists, among them being: AD 100, Elle Decor A-List-Top 25, New York Magazine’s Top 100, New York Spaces Top 50 Designers, and Luxe Magazine’s Gold List.
Considering the influence that Fox-Nahem Associates has outside and inside the USA we’ve decided to have a little look at the fireplaces behind some of their top design projects. Here’s a list of some of the top mantels that we know of.

Amagansett Beach House
This one consisted of a project that transformed a spec-house located at Long Island’s East End in order to give it a stronger personality, along with a redesigned kitchen, bathrooms alongside an expanded living room and master suite. The fireplace in the image has some lovely blue and white tiles associated with it, as well as a rustic feel that definitely matches the rest of the personality transpiring from this division.
Gramercy Park Penthouse
This project features a two-sided fireplace that can be seen and felt in both the living and dining room simultaneously. This style of fireplace design is being more and more adopted by many interior designers, seen as the heat can be felt in more than one division.
Greenwich Residence 2
This home was originally designed by famed builder Paul Starrett (Empire State Building), and it kept a seigniorial feel from the 20s, however, it was said to lack the warmth and grace that a real home is supposed to have. Fox-Nahem Associates gave a softer twist in this project by giving it a relaxed, edgy brightness that made this old house look and feels more like a real family home should. And no family home is complete without the fireplace in the centre, especially one made of marble and stone as we can see above.

NYC Townhouse
This New York City townhouse was also an example of a household that went through a complete renovation complete with some classic English and Swedish period pieces alongside a linear fireplace that’s enhanced by the amazing mirror hanging above it.
Park Avenue Duplex
This duplex probably suffered one of the most notable transformations in its interior design and essence, including decorating and furnishing. The brown shades emanating from the furnishings and its amazing fireplace, accompanied by the modern art pieces decorating the room definitely give it a different edge to it.
Pittsburgh Residence
Lastly, we have this wonderful Pittsburgh home with a bedroom all painted in shades of blue and white, beautifully complemented by the fireplace that gives the division the cosy feel it deserves. This was a project done for two longtime customers, Bill and Debbie Demchak.
